GAME WEEK 19-ARS v LIV-MATCH PREVIEW, DREAM 11

ARS v LIV- MATCH PREVIEW: Jurgen Klopp vs Arsene Wenger, Alexandre Lacazette vs Mohammad Salah, Mesut Ozil vs Philippe Coutinho, the game week-19 begins in earnest as Arsenal and Liverpool battle it out for a spot in the top four. Liverpool are currently 4th on the league table only one point better than Arsenal who with 33 points are at 5th.

Last 5 games: Arsenal started December rather poorly with a 1-3 drubbing against Manchester United. Against Southampton and Westham United the Arsene Wenger legion dropped 4 points with both games ending in a stalemate. The most recent fixture against Newcastle finished with the London side managing a solitary goal.

After 18 game weeks, Liverpool are 18 points away from league leaders Manchester City and have dropped a total of 20 points, albeit they’ve lost only 2 games. 14 off the 20 points are a result of 7 games ending in a draw. At Bournemouth, the Reds were back to their free-flowing best scoring 4 times.

Previous meeting: Liverpool trounced Arsenal at the Anfield early in the season with a 4-0 victory.

WHY ARSENE WHY? : Alexandre Lacazette was included in the squad for a club record fee of £52.7 million. The French striker didn’t find a place in the starting eleven in the games against Manchester City and Liverpool. Two games which completely unbarred their attacking frailties. In 18 games, Lacazette has been involved in 9 goals(8 goals and 1 assist). The Arsenal supporters would now only hope that he’s a regular in the starting eleven.

WATERTIGHT DEFENCE?: Liverpool and Arsenal have both conceded 20 goals this season; an area of their game that needs immediate correction. Against City, United and Liverpool the Arsenal defence was ruptured 10 times. The Reds also were taken to the cleaners in their games against City(5-0) and Spurs(4-1). Klopp and Wenger are now alive to their defensive susceptibilities but who’ll recoup quicker is the big question.

FACTS: Liverpool have scored at least three goals in each of their four Premier League matches against Arsenal under Jurgen Klopp, scoring 14 goals in total (Won: 3 Draw: 1).

Arsene Wenger’s side have also found the net in each of their last 23 Premier League home games. They last failed to score in a 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough in October 2016.

Sadio Mane has scored in each of his last three Premier League games against Arsenal. Only four players have previously scored in four consecutive PL games against the Gunners – Tomasz Radzinski and Peter Beardsley (4 in a row) and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Harry Kane (5).

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

Alexandre Lacazette(Arsenal): Lacazette has made a fine start to his Arsenal career. The French international has adapted to Arsenal’s style of play straight away and has racked up 8 goals and an assist in 18 appearances. With a piledriver of a right foot, he’ll be Arsenal’s main man against Liverpool.

Mohammad Salah(Liverpool): Liverpool paid £36.9 million for Mohammad Salah. The kind of form he’s hit, that amount now seems a mega bargain. Salah has scored 14 goals out of the 38 Liverpool have managed this season. An incredible 36.8%. If Mohammad Salah were a team, after game week-18, he would have had more goals than Swansea City(10) and West Bromwich Albion(13).

FAVOURITES: Arsenal have lost only one game(against United) at home this season, while Liverpool have lost two(their only defeats this season) travelling. Both teams are known for their attacking style of football. A high scoring game is assuredly on the cards and with a marginally better defence, Arsenal go into the game as favourites.

EXPECTED TEAMS:

ARSENAL: Petr Cech(gk), Hector Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Shkodran Mustafi, Granit Xhaka, Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Alexandre Lacazette, Alex Iwobi.

LIVERPOOL: Simon Mignolet(gk), Joseph Gomez, Ragnar Klavan, Dejan Lovren, Andrew Robertson, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson, Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, Mohammad Salah, Roberto Firmino.
